“All Scripture is breathed out by God...” - (2 Timothy 3:16)
There’s a difference between hearing about someone and truly knowing them....
You can read headlines... listen to opinions... or gather secondhand stories-but none of that compares to sitting with a person... listening to their words... watching how they act... and learning their heart....
That’s what God has given us in Scripture....
The Bible isn’t merely a collection of moral sayings or ancient history... it’s God revealing Himself… His nature... His ways... His faithfulness... His holiness... His mercy... His love.
When Moses asked to see God’s glory... the Lord didn’t primarily give him a spectacle… He proclaimed His name and character... “The LORD... the LORD... a God merciful and gracious... slow to anger... and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness...” (Exodus 34:6).
God wanted His people to understand what He is like.... And one of the main ways He continues to do that is through His Word....
- Scripture reveals that God is Holy… utterly pure... unlike anyone else... perfect in all His ways....
- It also reveals that God is Merciful…. He does not treat us as our sins deserve....
- It reveals that He is Faithful… steady when everything else shifts....
- It reveals that He is just… He does what is right... always....
- And it reveals that He is loving… not with a sentimental love... but a covenant love that pursues... restores... and keeps promises even when we fail.
Most clearly... Scripture reveals God’s character in Jesus....
Jesus said... “Whoever has seen me has seen the Father” - (John 14:9).
If you ever wonder what God is like... look at Christ… His compassion for the broken... His firmness toward hypocrisy... His tenderness with the repentant... His power over darkness... His patience with slow learners... His willingness to suffer to save....
And this matters because life is loud.... Our feelings fluctuate.... Circumstances preach sermons every day... God forgot you... God is disappointed... God won’t come through... God only loves you when you’re doing well.... But Scripture corrects the noise and anchors the heart....
The Word doesn’t just inform us… it introduces us to a living God..
“When you open the Bible... you’re not just searching for a verse to get you through… you’re learning the character of the One who holds you.”
Scripture shapes your view of God…. and your view of God shapes your worship... your peace... your obedience... and your hope.
