2-17-2026 | Prayer and Fasting Release Burdens

Published February 17, 2026

“Is not this the fast that I choose... to loose the bonds of wickedness... to undo the straps of the yoke... to let the oppressed go free... and to break every yoke?” - (Isaiah 58:6)

“Cast your burden on the LORD... and He will sustain you....” - (Psalm 55:22)

“This kind cannot be driven out by anything but prayer....” - (Mark 9:29)

Burdens have a way of piling up quietly.... Some are obvious... grief... bills... stress... conflict.... Others are invisible... guilt you can’t shake... fear that keeps replaying... disappointment that hardened into heaviness.... We try to manage them with more effort... more control... more solutions.... But the soul gets tired when it carries what it was never designed to hold....

“Prayer and fasting are God’s invitation to release the weight.”

Prayer is not simply talking about the burden... it is transferring the burden....

When you pray... you step out of self-reliance and into surrender.... You stop rehearsing worst-case scenarios and start rehearsing who God is.

Prayer lifts your eyes from the size of your problem to the strength of your Father.... And something happens when you bring what’s crushing you into God’s presence... the burden doesn’t always disappear instantly... but it loses its right to dominate you.

Fasting adds another layer....

“Fasting is a holy “no” that makes room for a deeper “yes”

In Isaiah 58... God describes a fast that loosens... undoes... and breaks.... That’s what prayer and fasting do in real life... they loosen the knots in your chest... undo the straps of pressure... and break the yokes of spiritual resistance.... Some burdens are practical... but some are spiritual... patterns that won’t shift... heaviness that won’t lift... cycles that won’t end.... In those moments... God calls you closer... not to perform... but to partner....

“Prayer and fasting are not punishment... they are freedom.... so if you feel burdened today... don’t carry it one more mile alone.... Bring it to God.... Lay it down... again and again if you need to.... And if the Spirit leads you... fast... not to prove devotion... but to say... “God... the Spiritual nourishment You give is more important to me than the physical nourishment I receive by food alone”...and to make space for deliverance.... God is near to the weary... and He is not asking you to be strong... He is asking you to surrender.”
