2-19-2026 | Prayer and Fasting Aligns & Strengthens Faith
“Return to Me with all your heart...with fasting...with weeping...and with mourning” - (Joel 2:12)
There are seasons when life feels noisy... when emotions run hot...when decisions feel heavy...and our spiritual compass starts spinning.... In those moments... prayer and fasting aren’t spiritual performance... they’re a holy realignment.... They are God’s gracious way of bringing our hearts back into agreement with His.
“Fasting doesn’t twist God’s arm.... It loosens our grip.”
When we fast... we’re not proving how strong we are... we’re confessing how dependent we are.... We step away from something legitimate.... most often food... to make room for what is essential… communion with God....
In fasting...the volume of the flesh turns down so the voice of the Spirit becomes clearer.... It’s alignment…. And alignment matters...because misalignment makes even good prayers feel weak.... You can pray and still be pulled in ten directions...still feeding fear...still rehearsing offense...still relying on your own control.... But when prayer and fasting come together... they begin to bring integrity to your inner life…. your desires...motives...choices... and attitudes start coming into sync with heaven.... That’s one of fasting’s quiet miracles…. it exposes what’s been ruling you.
“Sometimes what rises during a fast isn’t holiness...it’s irritability...anxiety...cravings...impatience...or frustration.... That isn’t failure...it’s revelation.... God is showing you what’s been under the surface so He can heal it...lead it...and strengthen you.... You’re not being punished...you’re being purified.”
That's when Faith starts to grow...
“Faith isn’t just believing God can... it’s trusting God enough to obey Him... wait on Him... and surrender outcomes to Him.”
Prayer builds relationship... fasting sharpens focus.... Together they create spiritual resistance against unbelief... and they train your heart to say... ”Not my will...but Yours”.
Prayer and fasting also teaches you to seek God’s face... not only His hand.
So… if you’re entering prayer and fasting... let your aim be alignment..
