2-26-2026 | Serving Requires Humility

“Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit... but in humility count others more significant than yourselves....” - (Philippians 2:3)

There’s a version of serving that still tries to stay in control... serving when it’s convenient... serving when it’s noticed... serving when it fits our image.... But real serving often happens in the hidden places... when no one claps... when the task feels small... when it costs you comfort... time... or pride....

Humility is what makes service pure.... Without humility... we can still “help”... but our hearts stay centered on ourselves… Do they appreciate me?... Do they see what I do?... Am I being treated fairly?...  Humility shifts the focus….  How can I bless?...  How can I lift someone else?...  How can I reflect Jesus?

Jesus is our clearest picture.... He had every right to be honored... yet He chose the towel and basin.... He washed feet... dirty... common... unglamorous work... and He did it with love....

“When we serve with humility... we’re not saying... “I’m less valuable....” We’re saying... “God is greater... and people matter.”

Humility doesn’t erase your worth... it anchors your worth in Christ so you don’t need recognition to keep going....

One way to measure humility is to notice what happens inside us when we’re overlooked... corrected... or assigned the “small” job....

Pride—->>> complains... competes... and compares.

Humility stays steady…  “Lord... help me serve like You—faithfully... quietly... joyfully.”

So today... don’t despise the low place.... God often meets us there.... The humble servant becomes a powerful witness... because the world expects greatness to demand attention... but the kingdom of God reveals greatness through love....
