3-19-2026 | Humility Makes Us Teachable
“He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way.” - (Psalm 25:9)
“So... if you think you are standing firm... be careful that you don’t fall!.” - (1 Corinthians 10:12)
Humility isn’t weakness… it’s spiritual posture.... It’s the honest recognition that we need God’s guidance... God’s wisdom... and God’s strength more than we need our own confidence....
Psalm 25:9 gives a beautiful promise…. God guides the humble and teaches them His way.... Notice who gets taught… not the loudest... not the most certain... not the most self-assured… but the humble.
“Humility opens the heart like good soil.... It says... “Lord... correct me... Lead me... Show me what I can’t see.”
Teachable people don’t assume they’ve arrived.... They stay soft toward God... quick to repent... and willing to grow....
Pride... on the other hand... makes us defensive.... It explains away conviction.... It resists correction.... Pride turns warnings into noise.... But humility turns even small nudges from the Holy Spirit into direction....
That’s why Paul’s warning in 1 Corinthians 10:12 is so loving… if you think you’re standing firm... be careful.... Confidence in yourself can be the very ledge you slip from....
Spiritual falls often begin quietly… not with a sudden disaster... but with a slow sense of… “I’ve got this.”
Humility keeps us from that drift.... It keeps us dependent... alert... and honest about our need for grace.
“Humility guards us because it keeps us close to the Shepherd.”
When we’re humble... we don’t wander far.... We don’t trust our instincts above God’s Word.... We don’t assume we’re beyond temptation.... We stay prayed up... checked in... and accountable…. not because we’re scared... but because we’re wise.
Today ask yourself these questions…
· Where have I been relying on my own confidence instead of God’s guidance?
· Is there an area where I’ve been resistant to correction… from Scripture... from godly counsel... or from conviction?
