3-23-2026 | Witnessing Begins With Personal Experience
“For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard” - Acts 4:20
Peter and John weren’t standing before the authorities with a polished argument or a rehearsed speech.... They weren’t trying to win a debate.... They were simply refusing to deny a reality they had personally encountered.... “We cannot but speak”…. isn’t bravado…. it’s overflow.... When Jesus has truly changed what you’ve seen and what you’ve heard.... silence starts to feel impossible.
“That’s where witnessing really begins.... not with pressure.... but with personal experience.”
Sometimes we think witnessing is for people who know a lot of verses.... have confident personalities.... or can answer every question.... But Acts 4:20 points to something simpler and stronger.... the power of a firsthand story.
Sometimes we think witnessing is for people who know a lot of verses.... have confident personalities.... or can answer every question.... But Acts 4:20 points to something simpler and stronger.... the power of a firsthand story.
Peter and John had walked with Jesus.... watched Him heal.... heard Him teach.... and seen Him risen.... Their witness was not secondhand religion…. it was lived reality.
And that’s the same kind of foundation God invites you to stand on today....
You may not have all the perfect words.... but you do have your “seen and heard”....
· What Jesus brought you through
· What He’s been teaching you lately
· How He’s comforted you.... corrected you.... strengthened you
· The peace you didn’t manufacture
· The hope that showed up when it shouldn’t have
That’s not “less than” theology.... That’s testimony....
Also notice.... their witness didn’t start in a safe setting....
Acts 4 is intense…. threats.... interrogation.... pressure.... Yet they didn’t ask God for a quieter life.... they leaned into a louder obedience.... Because when a person has truly encountered Christ.... fear doesn’t get the final word…. experience of Jesus does....
Here’s the heart of it....
“People can argue your opinions.... but they can’t undo what God has done in you...
And God often uses honest.... simple.... personal witness to open doors that impressive speeches never could.”
