(Acts 1:8)
Jesus doesn’t begin with a demand that we go far… He begins with a promise that we’ll be powered.... “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you....” Before strategy... before confidence... before results... God gives His own presence.... The Spirit’s power isn’t hype or personality... it’s holy strength to love when it’s hard... speak when it’s costly... forgive when it’s unfair... and stay steady when life shakes....
Then Jesus names the shape of our calling... witness.... A witness isn’t someone who knows everything… just someone who tells the truth about what they’ve seen and experienced.... Our witness starts close… (Jerusalem... home... family... daily routines)... stretches outward.. (Judea and Samaria... nearby places and even complicated relationships)... and keeps expanding.. (to the ends of the earth... beyond what we can control or predict).... The Spirit doesn’t only send us outward... He strengthens us inward... so our lives match our words.
Today... you don’t have to manufacture boldness.... You can receive it.... You don’t have to force fruit.... You can stay faithful… right where you are… and let the Holy Spirit make Jesus known through you.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus... thank You for Your promise... that I will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon me.... I confess I often try to live and speak in my own strength.... Forgive me for striving... shrinking back... or staying silent when You’re inviting me to witness.
Holy Spirit... come and fill me today.... Give me courage that is gentle... conviction that is loving... and words that are honest and full of grace.... Make my life a clear testimony of Jesus… at home in my “Jerusalem...” in the places and relationships that stretch me... and wherever You choose to send me.
Use me to point to Christ... not myself.... Let my witness be steady... humble... and bold.... And when I feel weak... remind me that Your power is present and enough.
In Jesus’ name... Amen.
