3-9-2026 | Expectation Stands on Promise & Grows in Prayer
“For all the promises of God in Him are Yes... and in Him Amen... to the glory of God through us....” - (2 Corinthians 1:20)
“Ask... and it will be given to you... seek... and you will find... knock... and it will be opened to you....” - (Matthew 7:7)
A different kind of expectation...
A lot of what we call “expectation” is really wishful thinking…. hoping circumstances cooperate... hoping people come through... hoping our strength lasts.... But biblical expectation is sturdier than optimism.... It isn’t rooted in how things look today.... It’s rooted in who God is and what God has promised....
Paul says all God’s promises are “Yes” in Christ....
That means God is not double-minded toward you....
He isn’t dangling hope like a carrot just to pull it away....
In Jesus... God has already decided His posture toward His children >>> faithful... good... and true....
When you feel unsure about the future... anchor your expectations in this...
God’s promises don’t wobble....
Expectation grows through prayer....
Still... even when God’s promises are sure... our hearts can feel shaky.... That’s where prayer becomes the place expectation matures....
Jesus says... “Ask... seek... knock....” Notice the movement >>> asking is direct... seeking is persistent... knocking is bold....
“Prayer isn’t just a way to request outcomes.. it’s a way to cultivate expectancy.”
Every time you ask... you’re declaring that God hears....
Every time you seek... you’re confessing that God can be found helpfully present.... Every time you knock... you’re testifying that doors can open by His hand.
Prayer doesn’t force God’s will…. it forms our faith.... It takes what God has promised and presses it into our anxious places until hope becomes steady.
Expectation rooted in promise doesn’t mean you won’t have delays.... It means delays don’t get the final word.... If God promised His presence... you can expect companionship in the valley.... If He promised wisdom... you can expect guidance when you ask.... Your expectation isn’t…. “Everything will go my way....”
Your expectation is….
“God will be God…. Faithful to His word…. while I keep asking... seeking... and knocking....”
