Romans 12:17-18 says...
"Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone."
In these verses… Paul encourages us to rise above the natural human tendency to retaliate when wronged…. The call to "never pay back evil with more evil"… is a radical challenge in a world where revenge often seems justified.
Paul reminds us that our response to wrongdoing should not mirror the actions of those who hurt us but instead reflect the character of Christ.
Choosing to act honorably… even in the face of injustice… is a testament to our faith…. It requires strength and humility…. When we respond with kindness rather than anger… we bear witness to the transformative power of God’s love in our lives….
This doesn’t mean ignoring our feelings or the hurt caused by others… rather.. it invites us to process these emotions through prayer and reflection… seeking God’s guidance on how to respond.
Living in peace is another fundamental aspect of our faith…. Paul urges us to do everything we can to pursue peace with others…. This often involves making sacrifices and letting go of our desire for retribution...
“Living in peace may require us to communicate openly... forgive readily.. and seek reconciliation.. even when it’s difficult.”
