5-11-2026 | Finding God Where You Least Expect Him

"Where can I go from Your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence? If I go up to the heavens, You are there; if I make my bed in the depths, You are there.” - Psalm 139:7-8

When we think of encountering God our minds often go to a church building... stained-glass windows.. worship songs.. the pulpit.. and the community gathered.... And while God certainly dwells among His people when they gather we must never limit Him to four walls or a Sunday morning service.

God delights in showing up in unexpected places...

  • He whispered to Elijah not in the earthquake.. wind.. or fire... but in the gentle whisper...

  • He called the shepherds to witness Christ’s birth not in a palace or synagogue... but in a field under the night sky...

  • And Yes... often  times God is waiting to meet with you in a struggle... in the hurt... in the pain...

*** Remember... He works best when we need Him most!!! ***

Many times I am guilty of getting in the mindset of "Oh I can't wait until Sunday so I get to spend some time with Jesus and worship Him"... and while there is nothing wrong with being excited about going to church...

The truth is...

“He has been moving and creating opportunities for me all week…. He has also wanted desperately to spend alone time with me all week…. I just haven't been paying attention."

It is amazing what happens in any relationship... especially with God... when we are still quiet...and just LISTEN!!!... and allow God to speak.

“If we are only looking for God in the places we expect Him to be… we risk missing Him in the places He chooses to be.”
