5-21-2026 | Beyond the Walls... The Lie That Limits the Church

Published May 21, 2026

"GO therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them... teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you."   Matthew 28:19–20

One of the greatest lies the world has sold... and the Church has too often bought... is this... As long as we stay inside the four walls of the church building, we’re doing our part for the Kingdom.

It's a comforting thought. It’s safe, predictable, and culturally acceptable. But it’s also completely false.... The Church was never meant to be a hiding place.... It was never designed to be a private club for the saved.... The Church is not a building... it is a body... a movement... a mission force.

When Jesus commissioned His followers, He didn’t say, “Wait for people to come to you.” He said, “Go.”

Remaining within the walls of our buildings, praising together, and enjoying fellowship are all beautiful and necessary... but they are not the finish line. They are the starting point. We gather to be equipped, then we scatter to reach the lost, serve the hurting, and bring light to the darkness.

Satan doesn’t mind a church that stays inside. He doesn't fear worship that never moves to action. What he dreads is a church that takes Jesus to the streets, the workplace, the schools, the neighborhoods.

“A church that goes is a church that grows... and glows...with the glory of God.”

Critical questions we need to ask ourselves…

 - Have I limited my definition of “church” to a Sunday service or a building?

- Where is God calling me to “go” this week outside my comfort zone, beyond the walls?

- How can I make my faith more visible and active in the world around me?
