5-26-2026 | God Doesn’t Want Your Stuff...He Wants Your Heart
"For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings." - Hosea 6:6
In our busy attempts to serve God… it’s easy to start believing He’s impressed with our sacrifices... our money... our volunteering... our routines…
We give… we show up to church… we say the right words…. But deep down… if we're honest… sometimes it becomes more about doing things for God than being with God.
Hosea 6:6 reminds us that God is not looking for external acts of devotion disconnected from our hearts…. He desires our surrender... our heart… our love... and sincere connection with Him more than the sacrifices we bring.
What He really wants is us…. He wants our affections… our honesty… our trust…
Think of the story of the rich young ruler (Mark 10:17–27) …. The man had followed the rules and kept the commandments… but when Jesus asked him to let go of his possessions and follow Him… the man walked away sorrowful…. Why?... Because Jesus was after his heart… and his heart was tied to his stuff.
God doesn’t need your stuff…. He owns the cattle on a thousand hills…(Psalm 50:10).
What He wants is far more valuable...your heart…. Your surrender…. Your love…. And When He has that… everything else will fall into place.
Questions to ask yourself...
• Have I been offering God my “stuff” while withholding my heart?
• What might God be calling me to release so I can follow Him more closely?
“God wants to be in relationship with us… not simply at the receiving end of our offerings.”
