Because of the privilege and authority God has given me, I give each of you this warning: Don't think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us. - Romans 12:3

“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”   - Galatians 6:2

One of the biggest temptations in today’s culture is to pride ourselves on independence….

We celebrate “self-made” success and quietly believe that asking for help is a sign of weakness... Likewise... when we do achieve a level of influence or success… we may begin to think we’re too important to serve others in what seems like small… insignificant or unnoticed ways.

*** But the kingdom of God flips that thinking upside down!!! ***

Scripture teaches us that no one is truly self-sufficient…. God created us for community... not isolation.

Even Jesus... the Son of God... did not walk alone…. He surrounded Himself with disciples… allowed others to minister to Him… and ultimately bore the burdens of the world out of love for others.

Paul reminds us in Romans 12 not to think of ourselves more highly than we should…. That’s not just about pride... it’s about recognizing our need for both humility and dependence on others.

“When we believe we don’t need anyone... we cut ourselves off from the help God often provides through others…. And when we think we’re above helping someone else... we miss the opportunity to reflect the heart of Jesus.”

Galatians 6:2 calls us to carry each other’s burdens... not ignore them... and not assume someone else will do it…. In helping others… we grow in the likeness of Christ…. In receiving help... we practice humility and trust.

*** Whether you’re in a season of giving or a season of needing help... remember... neither makes you greater or lesser…. Both are holy…. Both are part of God’s design. ***
