6-19-2026 | Hunger and Thirst for Righteousness

“God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied.” - Matthew 5:6 

 In this beatitude… Jesus highlights a profound spiritual truth…. the deep… longing desire for righteousness and justice….  

To be hungry and thirsty is to recognize a vital need… something essential for life….  

Just as our physical bodies crave food and water… our souls yearn for spiritual nourishment and moral integrity. 

“When we pursue righteousness… we align ourselves with God's heart.” 

 This pursuit is not merely about following rules but about longing for a relationship that reflects His love.. mercy.. and justice in our lives… and the world around us….  

It calls us to seek out what is right… to advocate for the less fortunate… and those looked down on… and to live in a way that honors God. 

  The promise that follows is powerful….  

“They will be satisfied.” 

 This satisfaction is not merely a fleeting… passive feeling… but a deep… abiding peace that comes from knowing we are walking in alignment with God’s will….  

It reassures us that our efforts to seek justice and righteousness are not in vain… they lead to fulfillment and joy. 

Here are the questions we need to ask…. 

 “Are we hungry and thirsty for righteousness?” 

“Are we willing to step out of our comfort zones to pursue justice for others?”
