"But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." - 1 Samuel 16:7

 In a world that often values the external…. appearance… achievements… status…

1 Samuel 16:7 is a powerful reminder that God's perspective is vastly different…. When Samuel was sent to anoint the next king of Israel… he naturally assumed that the strongest… most impressive-looking of Jesse’s sons would be the chosen one….

However… God redirected Samuel’s focus from outward appearance to inner character.

This verse encourages us to look beyond the surface… both in ourselves and others….

It’s a call to nurture a heart that is aligned with God’s values…. Integrity… humility… and faithfulness.

“God’s measure of a person’s worth is not found in their physical attributes or worldly successes… but in the depth of their character and the purity of their heart.”

Are there areas in your life where you are too focused on outward appearances?

How can you shift your focus to what truly matters?

How can you practice seeing others through God’s eyes… looking beyond the surface to understand their true character?

What steps can you take to cultivate a heart that is pleasing to God?
