7-2-2026 | Soothing Sin

What sorrow for those who say that evil is good and good is evil, that dark is light and light is dark, that bitter is sweet and sweet is bitter. - Isaiah 5:20 

From then on Jesus began to preach, "Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near." - Matthew 4:17 

In a culture that celebrates self-expression and avoids conviction... it can be tempting for churches to soften the message of sin…. We may fear offending people…. We may worry about attendance.. . reputation… or acceptance.  

“A True Kingdom Church Does Not Exist to Make People Feel Better About Their Sin” 

“A True Kingdom church loves people too much to leave them in bondage.” 

“A True Kingdom church is not a comfort center for carnality… it is a transformation center for repentance.” 

Sin separates... Sin blinds… Sin destroys… 

“To soothe someone in their sin without calling them to freedom is not compassion… it is compromise.” 

The prophet Isaiah warned against calling evil good...  

“When a church stops distinguishing between holiness and compromise… it stops reflecting the King.” 

The Kingdom is not advanced by affirming brokenness… it is advanced by transforming it. 

Grace does not excuse sin… it empowers us to overcome it…. The cross was not a declaration that sin is acceptable… it was proof that sin is deadly and redemption is costly.  

“If we preach grace without repentance… we preach half a gospel… And half a gospel leaves people half free.” 

“A church that never confronts sin may grow crowds… but it will not grow disciples.” 

Let us never make peace with what You died to defeat. 

Purify us… Refine us… Transform us…
