Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it.” - (1 Corinthians 9:24)

This week I began praying about what the devotion would be for today… and in true God fashion He showed up through a good friend of mine… Brock Kirby… and as he was encouraging me in becoming more physically fit for the Kingdom… he said something that smacked me in the face and it was obvious in that moment that God was saying that’s what today’s devotion would be…

“We want a Super Bowl ring with a practice squad mentality.”

Theres something in all of us that wants the ring… the reward.. the recognition.. the finished product…. We want victory in our minds..  strength in our bodies.. and peace in our spirits…. We want to stand on the platform of a life well-lived and hear…

Well done!!!”

But if were honest… sometimes our effort doesnt match our expectation.

  • We want clarity of mind… but we dont guard what we consume.

  • We want a strong… healthy body…  but we neglect discipline and consistency.

  • We want a thriving spirit… but we treat time with God like an optional extra instead of daily bread.

In 1 Corinthians… Paul isnt saying only one person wins in the Kingdom… hes saying run like it matters…. Live with intention…. Train with purpose…. Show up daily.

“Championship living requires championship habits.”

A Super Bowl ring isnt won on game day… its forged in early mornings...  unseen practices... disciplined repetition... and commitment when no one is watching….

The same is true for your total person…

  • Your mind is shaped by what you repeatedly think about.

  • Your body responds to what you consistently do.

  • Your spirit grows by how often you connect with God.

“You cant drift your way into excellence." "You cant casually arrive at spiritual depth.”

“Growth is intentional.”

Galatians 6:9 reminds us…

Let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”
