“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” - Colossians 3:2
“For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come.” - Hebrews 13:14
There are moments when your heart quietly whispers… “I can’t wait until this season is over.”
Maybe it’s the weight of responsibilities.. the ache of grief.. the loneliness of waiting.. or the frustration of feeling stuck…. You keep showing up.. but something in you longs for another time… a time when things finally make sense…. And another place… a place where you can breathe again.
“That kind of longing isn’t automatically a lack of faith…. Sometimes it’s evidence of it.”
God built eternity into the human heart…. There’s a holy homesickness in every believer… a pull toward what’s permanent.. whole.. and untouched by sin…. That’s why even the best days here can still feel incomplete….
Deep down we know… this world is not the final chapter.
But there’s a temptation hiding in that longing… we can start treating the future like our only hope…. We can say… “I’ll be joyful when…”… “I’ll trust God once…”… “I’ll worship again after…”… And without realizing it.. we postpone life with God until the scenery changes.
Yet Jesus does something better than simply promising a better place later…. He promises His presence now… and His kingdom forever.
Sometimes “another time” is God’s mercy… an open door to healing.. rest.. and renewal.
And sometimes it’s God’s reminder that our deepest thirst won’t be satisfied by new circumstances… but by a faithful Savior.
“Only Jesus can meet you in the middle of today and still carry you into tomorrow.”
The Bible describes a day when God will wipe away every tear.. where death and pain have no authority.. where what is broken is finally restored….That future is real…. It’s not wishful thinking… it’s guaranteed by the resurrection of Jesus.
So yes… look forward…. But don’t look forward in despair…. Look forward in hope.
And while you wait for another time and another place… let God meet you in this time and this place.
“The same God who will welcome you home one day is the God who walks beside you today.”
Remember…
“Your longing is pointing somewhere…. Let it point you to Jesus… because the best part of “another time” and “another place” isn’t the relief…
“It’s Him.”
