7-8-2026 | Are You Allowing Christ to Control Your Heart?
And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful. - Colossians 3:15
There’s a difference between having Jesus in your life and letting Him lead your life….
Colossians says… “Let the peace of Christ rule.”…
The word rule carries the idea of an umpire or referee… someone who makes the final call when there’s conflict on the field.
“Jesus doesn’t just want to be your comfort in chaos… He wants to be your decision-maker in it.”
What does it mean for Christ to “referee” your heart?
Peace decides whether you move forward or wait.
Truth decides whether you react or pray.
Love decides how you speak… even when you’re right.
Here are some signs that Jesus is not refereeing your heart…
You feel constantly stirred up.. but rarely settled.
You replay conversations to win them in your head.
You’re quick to assume the worst about others.
You keep moving.. even when peace left a while ago.
You’re making decisions you have to “justify,”… not ones you can rest in.
“Conviction isn’t condemnation… it’s an invitation…. Jesus isn’t trying to shame you… He’s trying to shepherd you.”
“Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is not push forward... but stop and let peace speak.”
