8-18-2026 | Habits of Holiness
“Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation.” (1 Peter 2:2)
“Continue steadfastly in prayer.” (Colossians 4:2)
“Let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works… not neglecting to meet together.” (Hebrews 10:24–25)
Holiness isn’t a personality type… it’s a path…. And most days… that path doesn’t look dramatic…. It looks like small choices done repeatedly…
Opening the Bible when you’d rather scroll
Praying when you feel nothing.
Showing up to church when it would be easier to stay home.
Over time… these “ordinary” habits become a holy rhythm that shapes your heart.
God doesn’t ask you to manufacture holiness by willpower…. He invites you to abide… to place your life in positions where His grace can keep changing you.
1. Let God’s Voice Lead Your Day… The Bible isn’t just information… it’s formation…. When you’re consistently in the Word... you start recognizing God’s tone… His truth cuts through the noise… exposes lies… and strengthens your faith…. If you only open Scripture when you’re already in crisis… you’re trying to learn to swim in the middle of a storm….
2. Keep Company With God… Prayer is more than asking God for help… it’s staying connected to Him….
“Many believers treat prayer like an emergency hotline. But God wants it to be a living relationship.”
“A weak prayer prayed daily will shape you more than a strong prayer prayed rarely.”
3. Grow Where You’re Planted… Church isn’t an optional accessory for believers… it’s a gift God uses to grow us…. Scripture never imagines a thriving Christian who stays isolated…. We need worship… teaching… correction… encouragement… and friendship.
“Some people avoid church because they’ve been hurt…. Some because they feel unworthy…. Some because they’re tired…. But holiness grows best in community… where people can pray for you… challenge you… and remind you of who you are when you forget.”
“You don’t go to church because you’re already strong…. You go because God strengthens His people there.”
