8-22 & 8-23-2026 | Prayer and Meditation
“Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.” - Matthew 24:44
“And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.” - 1 John 3:3
Meditation:
The return of Christ is not meant to fill the believer with fear… but with hope… anticipation… and holy expectation…. Jesus promised He would come again… and every passing day brings us closer to that glorious moment when faith becomes sight.
To expect Christ’s return is to live with awakened hearts…. It changes the way we pray… the way we love others… and the way we endure trials…. We stop clinging so tightly to temporary things because we remember this world is not our final home.
There are moments when life feels heavy… confusing… or uncertain…. Yet the promise of Christ’s return reminds us that suffering will not last forever…. One day… Jesus will wipe away every tear… heal every wound… and establish His perfect kingdom.
Waiting on Christ is not passive…. It is active faith…. It is choosing holiness when compromise is easier…. It is remaining faithful when others grow weary…. It is keeping the lamp burning… like the wise virgins who stayed ready for the Bridegroom.
The believer who expects Christ’s return learns to live each day with purpose….
Loving deeply
Forgiving quickly
Worshiping sincerely
Serving faithfully
Watching prayerfully
Today may be ordinary to the world… but it is another opportunity for the believer to prepare our hearts
Prayer:
Heavenly Father… Thank You for the promise that Jesus is coming again…. In a world filled with uncertainty… You have given us a living hope that cannot be shaken…. Teach me to live with expectation and readiness for the return of Christ…. Search my heart and remove anything that draws me away from You…. Help me to walk in holiness… faithfulness… and love as I wait for Your appearing…. When I become distracted by the cares of this life… remind me that my true treasure is in heaven…. Lord… strengthen me to endure difficult seasons with patience and trust…. Let the hope of Christ’s return fill me with peace instead of fear… joy instead of anxiety… and courage instead of discouragement…. May my life reflect the light of Jesus to those around me…. Help me to share Your love… extend grace… and remain faithful until the day You call us home…. Keep my heart awake… my spirit watchful… and my faith steadfast…. Come quickly… Lord Jesus…. In Jesus’ name… Amen.
