8-4-2026 | Don’t Just Visit with God… Abide in Him

“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.” - John 15:4 

There is a big difference between visiting with God and abiding in Him. 

A visit is occasional... It is brief... It happens when it is convenient…  

Many people treat their relationship with God this way... They check in when they need peace… direction… help… or rescue…. They spend a few moments in prayer… read a verse... and then go back to living disconnected from His presence. 

But…  

“Jesus did not call us to occasional visits… He called us to abide.” 

To abide means to remain… to stay… to dwell… to live in constant connection with Him…. It is not just meeting God in a moment… it is walking with Him throughout the day…. It is carrying an awareness of His presence into every conversation... every decision... every struggle... and every victory. 

A branch does not survive by visiting the vine once in a while…. It lives because it stays connected…. In the same way… our spiritual strength... peace... wisdom… and fruitfulness do not come from brief encounters with God alone… but from a steady... daily... ongoing relationship with Him. 

“When you abide in Christ… prayer stops being a routine and becomes a lifeline….  Worship stops being an event and becomes a lifestyle…. The Word of God stops being just a reading assignment and becomes daily bread for your soul.” 

Abiding also means trusting Him enough to stay close when life feels uncertain. 

“Anyone can cry out to God in a crisis…  but abiding believers remain near Him when prayers seem unanswered… when feelings fade… and when the road gets hard…. but Real intimacy is built in remaining.” 

God does not want to be a place you visit only when you are weary…. He wants to be the home where your soul lives.
