9-28-2026 | Living for What Lasts Forever
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven” (Matthew 6:19–20).
One of the greatest tragedies in life is not failure... pain… or hardship…. It is spending your whole life chasing things that cannot last….
“A wasted life is not always a wicked life…. Sometimes it is simply a distracted life... a comfortable life... a busy life... a life poured into temporary things while eternal things are ignored.”
His words remind us that everything in this world is fading…. Money fades… Beauty fades… Applause fades... Possessions break… Opportunities pass… Even our earthly lives are like a vapor.
But what is done for Christ… in obedience to Him… will endure and lasts forever.
To live for what lasts forever means refusing to let your heart be captured by what is temporary…. It means asking hard questions…
What am I really living for?
What consumes my thoughts... my energy... my prayers... my time?
Am I building a kingdom for myself... or am I serving the kingdom of God?
The world tells us to make a name for ourselves... protect our comfort... and get as much as we can…. But Jesus calls us to deny ourselves… take up our cross... and follow Him.”
“A life that lasts is a life surrendered to God.”
It is a life that loves people... serves faithfully... gives generously... prays earnestly... obeys quickly... and walks humbly…. It is not about being famous or impressive…. It is about being faithful.
Some of the most eternal lives are hidden from public view but fully known in heaven…. A praying mother… A godly father… A servant-hearted believer… A soul winner… A person who quietly endures suffering with faith…
None of that is wasted… Heaven sees it all.
Paul understood this when he said… “I do not count my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus” (Acts 20:24).
Paul refused to waste his life because he knew his life was not his own…. He had been bought with a price…. He was living for a finish line beyond this world.
“The enemy would love for you to live distracted... spiritually sleepy... and obsessed with lesser things…. He does not need everyone to become openly rebellious if he can simply keep them preoccupied.”
But God calls you higher….
“Your life is a gift… and it is also a stewardship…. Every day is seed…. Every conversation is an opportunity…. Every act of obedience carries eternal weight.”
At the end of everything… what will matter most is not how much you owned... how admired you were... or how easy your life was…
“At the end of your life what will truly matter is… whether you knew Christ… obeyed Him... and used your life for His glory…. Live for that!!!… That lasts forever!!!”
